The VLSI (Very-Large-Scale Integration) Design program at Thirumalai Engineering College is tailored to equip students with in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in designing and developing complex integrated circuits and semiconductor devices. VLSI plays a vital role in the advancement of electronics, enabling the creation of compact, efficient, and high-performance electronic systems used in everything from mobile phones to medical devices.

This course offers a comprehensive understanding of CMOS technology, digital and analog IC design, verification techniques, and fabrication processes. Through a curriculum that bridges theory and industry practices, students gain the skills required to innovate in the fields of microelectronics, embedded systems, and chip design.

VLSI Design Engineer

Design and implement digital/analog ICs, strong knowledge of CMOS, RTL coding, timing analysis, and circuit simulation tools.

Physical Design Engineer

Responsible for floorplanning, placement, clock tree synthesis, routing, and sign-off using tools like Cadence, Synopsys.

Verification Engineer

Focus on functional and logic verification, using SystemVerilog, UVM, testbench development, and debugging of complex SoCs.

FPGA/ASIC Developer

Develop and program Field-Programmable Gate Arrays or Application-Specific ICs, expertise in Verilog/VHDL and hardware-software integration.
